Electric Vehicle Charging

Places of public accommodation with at least one hundred parking spaces available for use by the general public shall have at least one parking space exclusively for electric vehicles and equipped with an electric vehicle charging system located anywhere in the parking structure or lot by July 1, 2012; provided that no parking space designated for  electric vehicles shall displace or reduce accessible stalls required by the ADA Accessibility  Guidelines.
 Hawaii SB2747/Act 089, signed into law April 27, 2012

Electric Vehicles are an excellent match for Oahu’s short commuting distances and can reduce fuel per
mile costs by 35% or more.

Electric vehicles are charged at three power levels: Level 1 (120 volts) Level 2 (208-240 volts) and Level 3 (400 volts DC) with corresponding 50% recharge times of 16 hours, 4 hours, and 15 minutes.

Boss Enertech has installed over 1 megawatt of Level 2 charging station capacity on Oahu. Station types are Pay to Use, Permission to Use, and Free to Use. Locations include the State Capitol, hotels, shopping malls, businesses, residences, and schools.

In June 2012, we installed the first Level 3 stations on Oahu (Waikiki, Kailua, and Waipio-Gentry)
